Waterfront Winterland in Swansea

Today I donned my red woolly Christmas jumper and went to the Waterfront Winterland in Swansea for an evening of ice-skating, traditional fairground rides and far too much indulgence.

There was an Autumn chill in the air but it stayed dry all night.

The blue ice-skates were not the most flattering for a skate with my boyfriend, but luckily my Bambi-on-ice days are behind me and I managed to stay upright, albeit a little wobbly at first.

Thought I was joking about the jumper?

I’m not sure mulled wine was the best choice as a pre-skate beverage, but it definitely warmed the cockles!

Feeling well and truly Christmassy after my first skate of the year, I got my mittens round a very tasty turkey and stuffing baguette from the carvery before my inner child couldn’t help it anymore; the Big Wheel was calling.

Maybe the turkey baguette was not the best choice beforehand, but the view was outstanding.

I peeked into Swansea’s leisure centre, the LC, and had a distant memory of being a member of the gym. Some time ago. I must remember to renew that membership for my New Year’s Resolution…

Speaking of the gym, our next stop was a French pancake with Nutella, sugar and syrup. Highly recommended.

We went for a little stroll and saw Welsh professional boxer Enzo Maccarinelli trying his luck with one of the fairground games.

I resisted any more indulgence although the German beer, fudge and Bailey’s hot-chocolate will be on my hit-list next time.

The evening ended with a ride on the traditional carousel, which made me feel like a little girl again, and ready to hang my stocking up.
